Announcements....

From the Principal:
Our 5th graders took the state writing assessment this week.  We have had success with the test in the past and hope that continues!  The third and fourth graders took a practice test Wednesday to get them some exposure to the process.

Monday we are having a traveling African Drum Group from Chattanooga will visit us for a 1:00 performance.  This will be free of charge for the students.  This is our yearly exposure to the arts.  In the past we have had the opera and ballet.

The various snow dances the kids have been doing have been unsuccessful.  However, they will get a four day weekend starting Saturday, February 18.

Our five year technology plan is almost complete.  We are going to sell cookies starting February 24.  Hopefully every student can sell a box or two.  The students that sell eight boxes will get a limo ride to eat pizza.  The money raised will help us complete our computer/technology plan.

Nurse:

It is the season for many types of health conditions, (strep, flu, virus', etc.).  In order to keep from passing these around to children whose immune system may be weak, it is our policy to keep a child home until he/she has been FEVER FREE for a 24 Hour Period.  It is our desire to keep our children a healthy as possible.  We would appreciate your help in this matter.  If I can answer any questions you may have, please do not hesitate to call me at 232-6038.

School Nurse, Donna Sutton

Guidance Counselor:

Parents can call directly to the guidance counselor at 232-8725

Breakfast:

If students would like to eat breakfast in the cafeteria, then they need to be at school no later than 7:30 because all students need to be in their classrooms at 7:42.

Car Rider Schedule in the morning:

Car-riders should be dropped off at the side door from 7:10-7:42.  We are trying to keep the front of the building as clear of vehicles as possible.  These are expanded times over last year.  After the 7:42 bell, the student is tardy and will have to come into the office and get a tardy slip.

Safety Concern:

All parents need to check in at the office as they enter the building.

PTCO News:

Box Tops for Education is something we continue to promote.  We want to get as many Box Tops as possible.  Box Tops can be found on many products from cereal to zip lock bags, Campbell Soup proof of purchase and Tyson A+ labels.  Please keep sending in the Box Top Labels.  Go to boxtops4education.com to see all the new products that have labels.
