DES Announcements
From the Principal: We had a wonderful turn out for our Bookfair, talent show, and chili supper. Everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone who supported these efforts. We had some really good talent this year for our talent show. The winner for singing was Jay Lynn Gafford, Instrumentalist was Kyle Wallace, Creative Talent was Alexandria Anderson and the Crowd Pleaser was Avery Wann. Congratulations to all of these winners. We also had a lot of fun during Read To Me Week. The faculty and students enjoyed dressing up for the different days. There will be a workshop that is new to our area. It is "Parent Again" for Grandparents and Other Relatives who are raising children. Things have changed for a lot of families. This workshop will have some very useful information for these families. This will be held on Wednesday, March 24, from 8:30-12:00 at DES. The cookie fundraiser orders have been sent in and should be here sometime at the end of March. We want to thank everyone who participated in this fundraiser. Parent-Teacher conferences will be March 11, from 3:00- 8:00. There will be no school on this day. As of now, students are only going to have to make up one snow day. The make-up day is scheduled for Friday, March 12. Saturday is the deadline to sign up for Little League baseball and softball. Nurse: The cold and flu season is upon us. Please help our school children stay healthy and in school. Here are some general guidelines we follow in the nurse's office that may help you to determine if your child needs to remain at home for the day. If your child wakes up in the morning and is sick, please keep them home for the day. If they have a fever of 100 or greater, please keep them home or if they have had a fever in the past 24 hours before school starts, please keep them home that day. If we work together to keep sick children home and well children at school, maybe we can cut down on the amount of absentees and sickness at our schools. Please remind your children to keep their hands washed. Most illnesses are spread through dirty hands. Thank you for your cooperation with this problem. If we can answer any questions you may have, please do not hesitate to call me at 232-6038. School Nurse, Donna Sutton Guidance Counselor: Parents can call directly to the guidance counselor at 232-8725 Breakfast: If students would like to eat breakfast in the cafeteria, then they need to be at school no later than 7:30 because all students need to be in their classrooms at 7:45.
Car Rider Schedule in the morning: Car-riders should be dropped off at the side door from 7:10-7:45. We are trying to keep the front of the building as clear of vehicles as possible. These are expanded times over last year. After the 7:45 bell, the student is tardy and will have to come into the office and get a tardy slip. Safety Concern: All parents need to check in at the office as they enter the building.
Car Rider Schedule in the afternoon- 2:35- Students should be picked up at the car rider side door. Please pick up the student from 2:35-3:00.
