Mrs. Tina’s Discipline Policy

Discipline and classroom management is different in a developmentally appropriate Pre-K classroom in the fact that we are actually teaching students to identify feelings and appropriately deal with them. Teachers mentor and guide students through their social and emotional development by providing authentic, creative learning opportunities that will assist in developing self-control, self-discipline, self-esteem, and intrinsic (or self) motivation. A child who is intrinsically motivated to learn will learn for the pure simple joy of learning and will behave for the pure simple pleasure of acting appropriately. "Time Out" will be used when necessary, but we will try to work out most problems in a classroom meeting setting where we discuss the issue at hand and work together toward possible positive solutions.
