Rebelettes remain unbeaten due to timely shooting
The Stewart County Rebelettes entered Thanksgiving break with a 4-0
record, including back to back wins against McEwen and Kenwood on Monday and
Tuesday night.
The Rebelettes hosted McEwen on Monday, November 23 and it was a
barnburner. The Rebelettes and Lady
Warriors battled all game long. The
Rebelettes jumped out to a 9-2 lead early on, but saw its lead shorten to 13-9
after the first quarter. After
scoring only one field goal in the second, the Rebelettes were tied up at the
half at 17-17. McEwen would grab an
early lead in the third and hold it for a 27-24 lead.
However, the Rebelettes would battle back.
Kylan Crain hit a three-pointer to cut the McEwen lead to one with two
minutes left. The Rebelettes would
get a huge defensive stop and sophomore Courtney Rowlett would hit a three with
40 seconds left in the game to give the Rebelettes a two point lead.
The Rebelettes, yet again, made a big defensive play and Courtney Rowlett
added two free throws to put the game away.
Kylan Crain had ten points for the Rebelettes, including two
three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Christy Steele finished with eleven and Rowlett scored five of her six
points in the final minute of the game.
The Rebelettes won 39-35 to remain unbeaten.
On Tuesday, November 24 the Rebelettes traveled to Kenwood to battle the
Lady Knights. The game was neck and
neck the whole way and the finish was dramatic.
The Rebelettes would score eleven in each of the first two periods yet
trailed 26-22 at the halfway point.
Each team would score ten in the third quarter, which led to an exciting fourth.
Trailing by one with a little over a minute left, sophomore Hillary Keel
hit a three-pointer to give the Rebelettes the one point lead.
However, Kenwood would answer as Shakira Bess made a two point basket and
was fouled in the process. She would
hit the free throw to give the Lady Knights a two point lead.
Christy Steele, who led the Rebelettes with 20 points, scored the most
important three with six seconds.
She banked in a running leaner to give the Rebelettes the one point lead.
Kenwood would inbound the ball immediately, only to be called for a
travel. Sophomore Courtney Rowlett
would put the icing on the cake as she hit a three as time expired.
The Rebelettes will host border rival Houston County on Tuesday, December
1st.
Rebelettes Win Second Straight
Stewart County defeated The Lady Tigers of Bruceton this past Friday
night by a score of 52-26. The
Rebelettes started off slow only leading 7-2 after the first, but extended their
lead to 23-8 after the second. The
Rebelettes pulled away in the third quarter taking a 44-16 lead.
They added eight more in the fourth for a 52-26 win.
Christy Steele had fifteen points, while scoring ten in the third, and
Kylan Crain added nine. Kellery
Wallace chipped in eight, including two three-pointers in the second quarter.
The Rebelettes will face the McEwen Warriors on Monday, November 23.
Rebelettes Win Season Opener
Stewart County Rebelettes defeated the Northwest Lady Vikings 57-45 on Tuesday, November 17. The Rebelettes started off slow leading 10-9 after the first quarter and extended their lead in the second going into halftime with a 25-18 lead. Depth and balanced scoring contributed to the win as eight players scored with another player adding productive minutes. The Lady Vikings fought back in the third cutting the score to 40-37, but Stewart County was too much in the end as Christy Steele had eight of her ten points in the fourth quarter to help the Rebelettes secure a 57-45 win. Kylan Crain led the Rebelettes in scoring with twelve points, including two three-pointers, while Holli Crain and Monique Newman each added eight apiece. Northwest was led in scoring by Kymmalett Ross with eleven points. Stewart County will face Bruceton on Friday, November 20.

Rebels Faced Tough Battle at Kenwood
The Stewart County Rebels traveled to Kenwood to face the Knights on
Tuesday, November 24. The Knights
jumped out early to a 22-2 lead with four minutes left in the first quarter.
However, the Rebels would settle down and finish the quarter on a 9-1 run
and trail 23-11 after the first period.
The Knights would add to their lead in the second and went into halftime
with a 36-20 lead. The Rebels came
out flat in the third and were outscored 19-7 in the quarter and were down
55-27. In the fourth the Rebels
outscored the Knights 12-5, but still went on to lose 60-39.
Collins and Smith lead Kenwood with 20 and 18 points respectively.
Chris Neblett scored eleven and Parker Austin contributed nine.
The Rebels host border rival Houston County on Tuesday, December 1 at
Bill Craig Memorial Gymnasium.
Rebels Fall to McEwen
The Stewart County Rebels hosted the McEwen Warriors on Monday, November
23. The Warriors came out and took
the early 7-4 lead in the first quarter.
The Rebels cut the lead to two and went into the half 14-12.
McEwen outscored the Rebels 16-11 in the third and took the 30-23 lead.
The Warriors would increase their lead to ten and take the game 43-33.
Patrick Mullinicks and Blain Hooper each scored eleven and Garrett
Mullinicks scored seven of his nine in the fourth, all on free throws.
Zac Davis led the Rebels with nine, while Parker Austin added eight.
Rebels fall on last second three to Tigers
The Stewart County Rebels lost in dramatic fashion thanks to a game winning
three point basket by the Tigers with 2.5 seconds to give Bruceton the 52-50
win. The Rebels took the lead after
the first quarter by a score of 15-13, and increased it to four going into
halftime. Cole Earhart scored eleven
of his team high fourteen in the second to give the Rebels a 29-26 lead going
into the half. Each team scored
eleven in the third; however, the Tigers outscored the Rebels 18-10 in the
fourth to take the 52-50 win. The
Rebels went 8-15 from the free-throw line, while the Tigers made eight of their
43 three-point attempts. Taylor
Craig and Cole Earhart each had fourteen, while Parker Austin scored eleven for
the Rebels. Bruceton was led by
Jordan with 19 points. The Rebels
host the McEwen Warriors on Monday, November 23.
Rebels lose opener despite Neblett’s performance
Stewart County Rebels hosted the Northwest Vikings in their home opener
on Tuesday, November 17. The Rebels
were tied 10-10 after the first quarter and went into the half down 30-20 due to
eighteen first-half turnovers.
Northwest came out in the third extending their lead to 47-31.
The Rebels would cut the lead to six halfway through the fourth due to
some hot shooting from Zac Davis, but could never pull any closer and lost by a
score of 70-52. Chris Neblett led
the Rebels with 21 points, while Zac Davis added twelve and Parker Austin
chipped in nine. Coty Clark led
Northwest with 28 points, with two three-pointers.
Stewart County will travel to Bruceton to face the Tigers on November 20.
