What is a reflexive verb?
A reflexive verb is one where the person performing the action also recieves the action. I am washing "myself." Therefore, in French you must include a reflexive pronoun with the verb. je (me), tu (te), il(se), elle(se), on(se), nous (nous), vous(vous), ils(se), Elles(se)
When do I use the word "en?"
There are sveral ways in which this word can be used. Two of the primary ways are: 1. It can replace a noun that has been introduced by "de" or any form of "de." Review page 478 of the red book. 2.You can also use "en" to express "in" or "to" with all continents and countries with the exception of masculine countries that begin with a consonant. Review page 113 of the green book.
What is the Imperfect tense?
This tense is used to describe past situations. These actions are either continuous, repeated, habitual, or ongoing actions in the past. Review page 75 of the green book.
What is a Relative Pronoun?
The two relative pronouns discussed in French II are: Qui and Que. Qui is used to combine two shorter sentences into one. Qui is "ALWAYS" the subject to the clause it introduces and can NEVER be contracted. Que is also used to join two sentences into a longer one, but "que" is the direct object of the clause it introduces and "CAN" be contracted.
How do I create the future tense?
The future tense is formed by using the infinitive form of "ir" and "er" verbs and taking the "e" off of "re" verbs then adding the following: ai, as, a, ons, ez, ont.
How do I use double object pronouns?
Double object pronouns, direct/indirect follow this pattern, Subject+indirect object pronoun+direct object pronoun+verb. Review page 185 of the green book for the list of pronouns.
How do I express an action that is done for me?
Use the verb "faire" in one of the conjugated forms + the infinitive of the verb that describes the action being done for you. review page 187 of the green book.
What is the conditional tense and how is it created?
The conidtional tense is used in French like we do in English. It expresses what "would" happen under certain circumstances. It is created using the same stem as in the future tense, but then adding the imperfect endings to the stem. Review page 214 of the green book.
