For Kids and Parents

Diabetes can seem overwhelming to a child. How can a parent answer questions from their child? The American Diabetes Association has created a valuable resource for parents to tackle this problem. A message board is also provided for parents to get information and support.

Diabetes in Tennessee

Our home state of Tennessee ranked 10th in the nation in 2002 for the highest diabetes death rate. Governor Phil Bredesen created Get Fit TN®, a statewide awareness program devoted to address the rising epidemic of diabetes in our state.  The official web site for this program is a great resource for information on how to commit to a healthy lifestyle by eating a nutritious diet and exercising regularly. Tennessee is dedicated to leading in the fight against diabetes in our country!
