SCHS FBLA has many community service committees for members to be involved in. Each year, local officers head up these committees and organize events such as CDC parties, food drives, and fundraisers for worthy causes. FBLA is extremely active in giving back to those around us, but we can’t do it without member involvement. Check out the committees and what they do, pick your favorites, and GET INVOLVED!
March of Dimes is a National FBLA project. FBLA chapters from
across the nation collect money to give to this worthy organization.
March of Dimes is an organization dedicated to the well-being and life of
new born and premature infants. Members of this committee organize
fundraisers and collect the money to be taken to state conference and
donated to March of Dimes.
The Ronald McDonald House committee collects coke tabs to help the residents of the Ronald McDonald House. The coke tabs are collected and put in clean milk jugs and then taken to the state conference. Each gallon of coke tabs collected helps pay for the treatment and other expenses that the families of sick children are faced with.
Canned Food DriveThe canned food committee organizes a food drive in the high school. Committee members wrap boxes and distribute them to classrooms throughout the school, announce the food drive and send letters to the teachers promoting the drive, and collect, count, and deliver the food to the local Good Samaritans for distribution to the community around Thanksgiving.
Members on the fruit basket committee collect fruit, hard candy, and juice. These items are placed collected and taken to the Manor House of Dover. The committee members get the satisfaction of delivering the items to the residents and seeing the joy on their faces when high school students show them a little love at Thanksgiving time.
This committee is dedicated to the elderly residents of the Manor House of Dover. Committee members collect money during lunch periods in December and use the money to buy Christmas presents for the residents. The residents really enjoy this committee’s work.
CDC Christmas PartyMembers of this committee collect money and sponsor fundraisers in order to buy Christmas presents for the CDC class at SCHS. Committee members ask the CDC teachers for the students’ wish lists and try to get the items on their lists. They also plan and attend a Christmas party for the class where they deliver the presents.
